Soil Colors of the Continental United States

Exploring Soil Colors of the Continental United States

There is a two-sided poster, “Soil Colors of the Continental United States.” The unique mosaic of colors communicates the variety of soil properties. Soil conditions vary, hence the need for different soil-management and conservation practices.

This publication is available in PDF format at the poster size. Click the download button to get the portrait sizes.

This was very “cool” Donna. Thanks for sharing it.

The condition of the soil is a very basic issue that is overlooked by all of us, except for farmers as a rule.

Supposedly, the droppings from big bird flocks (passenger pigeon, carolina parakeets and the oppressors like white headed eagle) plus rotted wood and feet deep moss made a soil, that is mostly gone now. It is not even acknowledged that it existed.
