States are required to complete SCORPs every five years to be eligible to participate in the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) State Assistance Program funded with a 50% match by the National Park Service. Some components of a SCORP are required, but there is flexibility built into the poll to allow states to focus on areas of specific concern to them. One of the required elements is outdoor recreation demands, another is the supply of these nature-based outdoors opportunities.
Be sure to comment about your interest in wildlife watching and habitat for wildlife including pollinators. Many times land managers don’t take into consideration the more passive sports such as wildflower and bird watching.
Please take a few moments to fill out Wisconsin’s SCORP survey. Or, to find the SCORP survey for your state, just type in SCORP Surveys in your search window and you’ll get a list.
