WILD Center Steering Committee Planning Meeting Set for March 24
The national Wild Ones board is looking for suitable partners to manage or to transfer ownership of the WILD Center. The property has three main ecosystems: woodlands, marsh, and lake shore and is located on the shores of Little Lake Butte des Morts in Neenah, Wisconsin. The site is of prime ecological importance for the Fox River watershed and the larger Great Lakes watershed areas.
A meeting to discuss and draft a WILD Center (Wild Ones Institute of Learning and Development) Steering Committee document as a proposal to the national Wild Ones organization is set for Monday, March 24, at 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Neenah Public Library Room 201.
Members of the local Fox Valley Area Chapter of Wild Ones have formed a stakeholders group and have been in communication with the national Wild Ones board over the past year since hearing of their plans to sell the WILD Center. This beautiful conservation land was purchased for our national headquarters with WDNR and other grant funding along with many donations in 2006-2008, and a great deal of work has been done to improve the property and establish a large prairie.
Please plan to attend this meeting if you feel you have background knowledge with steering committees or related background that would help us in creating a proposal, or if you have interest in being a part of this planning. We welcome people from the Fox Valley area and beyond. Please contact Kathleen Hallett at kmahallett@gmail.com for more information about the Zoom meeting any other questions you may have. Thank you in advance for your interest and support.
