So far 2017 Second Warmest on Record

July 20, 2017

So far this year 2017 has been documented as the warmest on record; 2016 was the warmest. NASA announced on July 18, 2017 that the Earth’s average temperature from January to June was 57.9 degrees (14.4 degrees Celsius). That’s a 1.6 degrees increase over the 20th century average.

Last year’s record heat was blamed on the super El Nino, but so far this year there has been no El Nino affecting the weather. Does this mean the increasingly warm weather is to be the expected norm? I know I don’t fare very well in warm weather which makes me wonder about the native plants. I can stay indoors in the air conditioning, but the native plants are stuck where they are. In a nonsensical moment, I envision them picking themselves up by the roots and walking north. Hm-m-m! That’s quite a sight!!
