National Train Day celebrates the history of trains in the United States and the advantages of railway travel. The day is observed on the closest Saturday to May 10 – which marked the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in the United States of America. The celebration was started by Amtrak in 2008.
I love to ride the trains. I can see all the best scenery. I like the tumpty-tumpth. It is so peaceful and quiet. It is so-so refreshing!
Railroad Museums across the USA will celebrate the occasion. To share:
Try explorimg some abandoned railroad lines. Our bike trails follow some of them. The ones that leadup to high points along our rivers are worth seeking out.
