21st Annual Great Backyard Bird Count

February 16, 2018

Shown above is one of the GBBC posters available for 2018. This unusual looking bird makes an even more unusual sound. The pileated woodpecker is the largest of the North American woodpeckers. It prefers wooded habitat, so we often see them at our hunting property. For more info and to hear their raucous call, go to theĀ  Cornell Lab.

The 21st annual Great Backyard Bird Count (GBBC) is held February 16-19 this year. Have you downloaded the new 2018 GBBC poster yet? If not, plan to do so and share them with family and friends to encourage them to get outdoors and participate in the GBBC. There are nine different posters to choose from.

HELPFUL APP

If you go on a hike or a guided walk to do your GBBC, the Cornell Lab has a free app available which will help you know exactly how far you’ve walked. It’s called eBird Mobile Tracks and is part of the eBird Mobile app.

Good luck and have fun!
