Now is the time of the year we are working frantically to control invasive weeds. Here in my yard I am dealing with garlic mustard, buckthorn, goutweed, canary reed grass and crown vetch besides all those other pesky garden-type weeds. Although I’ve dug and pulled a lot of these weeds, in some cases I’ve simply had to resort to chemical management through herbicides because there are just not enough hours in the day to control them manually. Here’s an excellent resource to help you determine the toxicity of commonly used landscaping chemicals.
Thank you Maryann Whitman for bringing this webpage to my attention.
P.S. Last year I removed 100s of box elder seedlings from my woodland. This year in their place are buckthorn seedlings and garlic mustard. It seems like a never-ending project. I try to think of it as a good exercise regimen. By the end of the year I should be in fantastic shape!
