Winterberry (Ilex verticillata)

Winterberry (Ilex verticillata) grows in Eastern North America and typically occurs in swamps, low woods and along waterways. It is a deciduous holly which requires both a male and female plant to produce berries.

One of my favorite shrubs to use for winter decorating is the Winterberry (Ilex verticillata). Its brilliant red berries really brighten up the evergreen boughs that bring such a wonderful pine-scented fragrance to the air.
